There are very few artists who have made as much impact in such a short space of time as Maya Jane Coles and whilst Circus for the summer takes a hiatus from its spiritual home, The Masque, there’s a sizzling session taking place at The Shipping Forecast on Saturday July 30th to abate any sense of longing for a superlative slice of nocturnal revelry.
Taking in the intimate environ of the Funktion-One powered Hold, this special one-off party sees super starlet Maya Jane Coles making her Circus debut, with the club’s architect Yousef and resident spinner Lewis Boardman in attendance too. July sees Maya continuing her extremely busy schedule, appearing at EXIT Festival, Berlin’s Panorama Bar, London’s Ministry Of Sound, Space Ibiza and Global Gathering Festival as well as trips to Belfast and Croatia.
“Recently there have been much fewer opportunities for me to play really small parties, especially leading up to the Summer being festival season and all, so Circus is gonna be a little treat to play at. From a DJ’s perspective there’s nothing better than feeling the energy from every individual of a crowd. When you play to massive audiences it’s rare that 100% of the people are focused and locked into your music and sometimes you can be so removed from the audience. It’s nice to be on the same level, you wanna be part of the party too! I mean don’t get me wrong, I love playing big gigs too. Seeing so many people at once dancing to your music gives me huge satisfaction, but nothing beats the feeling of when the room goes off in a killer intimate party.” Maya Jane Coles
This very special Circus show in The Shipping Forecast and Maya’s Liverpool debut will be strictly limited to 200 tickets.
Maya has sat at the top of both the Beatport and RA charts with releases on Real Tone, Hypercolour, Mobilee and recently 2020Vision, with which she has recently released her “Focus Now” EP – a beautiful package of deep house grooves, slow dreamy strings featuring her own vocal talents. Her wide-ranging influences— including Radio Slave, John Tejada and Steve Bug and seminal London parties Secretsundaze and Mulletover —inspired Maya’s own take on groove-laden house. Now Maya has evolved into the toast of the electronic scene, with her cerebral and meticulously-honed house music winning plaudits across the globe. Her Real Tone EP, including Simple Things and What They Say, is a master class in music. What better place than The Hold to get to know this bright new star.
