T in the Park
T in the Park began in 1994 with 17,000 people rocking up to see names like RATM, Bjork,
Blur, Pulp and Oasis. Since then it has grown to become the 5th largest town in Scotland
over the weekend with 85,000 people and 4,000 staff taking over Balado Airfield.
On the Thursday night 30,000 T in the Parkers can now get to Balado early to pick the first
campsite pitches, hit the dance floors with the campsite tunes, watch a film at the outdoor
cinema or go wild at the funfair before the music and colourful masquerade of Fancy Dress
Friday begins. In addition to the campsite cinema opening again on Thursday night in 2010,
campers will get the chance to vote on what they want to see via a special tinthepark.com
fan-vote

The event has gone to great lengths to develop its green credentials over the years, with
2006 seeing T in the Park become the largest Carbon Neutral festival in the world, a title
it still holds today. The site itself uses low energy ‘festoon’ lighting, all staff use bicycles
to get around the site and there is Redeem, Reduce Recycle Cup deposit.

For me one of the things that makes a festival stand out is how they look after event goers,
2009 saw T in the Park win ‘Best Toilets’ from the UK festival awards. I’m sure you’ll agree
toilets, line-up and bar are the makings of a great festival weekend. T in the Park is co
founded by Tennet’s Lager so the bar is sorted.
The lineup is also well covered with T in the Park winning ‘Best Lineup’ from UK festival
awards in 2008. This year’s artists range from superstar DJs to Hip Hop kings, and smooth
pop to rock legends. This event has something for everyone and they deliver it with a real
awareness for the people and the planet.

Over the three days, T in the Park deliver a varied and seriously big named event. There are
nine areas spread out around Balado Airfield.
-The Main Stage is the main place for performances and the big names with Muse, Eminem,
Kasabian, Faithless and Jay-Z.
-Radio 1/NME Stage is definitely the place for the cool kids to hang out with The Black Eyed Peas,
The Prodigy, Madness, Groove Armada and Baby Shambles.
-King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent has a good selection of electro pop with Calvin Harris, David Guetta,
Goldfrapp, Ellie Goulding and Empire of the Sun.
-The Red Bull Bedroom Jam Futures Stage (catchy name) is a home for the up and coming with
acts like Bombay Bicycle Club, The Middle East, Chapel Club and Detroit Social Club.
-The Slam Tent is your dance floor for the weekend with Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Dubfire
and Crookers tearing it up on Saturday and Sunday.
