Why Use PC DJ Software?

These days, PC DJ software has made it possible for you to DJ like a professional — because you are one room even if you just do this for a hobby. Best of all, you don’t need lots of expensive equipment. Instead, as long as you keep a few things in mind, you can DJ with a basic laptop computer and some specialized PC DJ software.

It’s no longer necessary to cart around lots of expensive equipment to DJ, nor is it necessary to spend a lot of time setting up once you get to your destination. You can of course use a desktop PC if you want to, but these days, PC DJ software is so streamlined and intuitive that you can use it on a laptop without worry; that means that your equipment is contained within your laptop and therefore can be taken with you wherever you go.

What PC DJ software should you use?

There are lots of different software companies out there vying for your business, and you should read reviews carefully before you choose one. The software you choose should, of course, be PC compatible. If you wish, it should also have a trial version whereby you can fully "try before you buy," without any disabled features. There is also "freeware," of course, but there’s a problem with freeware in that you risk downloading viruses or spy ware with your freeware even if it does work, and it’s likely that the freeware you use won’t be as functional as something you can buy. So go ahead; to try out several versions, but if you are really serious about DJing, you’ll want to invest some money in a decent laptop with enough RAM memory and a large enough hard drive, and then some good software that’ll do everything you want it to do.

Some good programs to try include Mix MeisterPro, EZ-DJ Plus, and AtomixMP3. Using MP3 files as the media for your music means you can literally store thousands of tunes on your computer, and the software will give you the ability to apply special effects like reverb, delay, and so on.

Other things to keep in mind with PC DJ software

The software you use is really important when it comes to your DJ pursuits, but so is your computer. It’s a good idea to use a laptop and have that laptop completely "dedicated" to your DJ work. Don’t use it for anything else, because that will alleviate any possible problems of software conflicts or other problems that could have you fumbling when you most need to have your computer working. You don’t want to crash right in the middle of an important gig.

It’s also important, by the way, not to connect to the Internet if at all possible with your computer that you’re going to use for DJing. Although most recommended PC DJ software is guaranteed virus free upon download, that’s not always true of song downloads, etc., from the Internet, and you will want to check downloads from another computer for viruses or spyware before you transfer them to your computer that you’ve got dedicated to DJing.

Follow these tips, including making sure you choose a good PC DJ program for you, and you can have a successful DJ career — or just have fun pretending to be a professional DJ.
